For the first time ever, little readers will read a book that I have authored. To say that I am excited is putting it mildly.
I can recall my time as a young teenage babysitter. I would always come up with creative children’s stories to tell the kids I looked after. Most of the time I saved this for bedtime stories as they were perfect for assisting little ones to dreamland. Other times, I made up stories to distract or engage them.
One day, I babysat a little girl who would cry and cry for her mom when she would get dropped off. I told her a story about a little girl who had to find her bravery. In the story, this brazen little girl followed in pursuit of her mom immediately after she got dropped off at a babysitter’s house. She first ran behind her mother’s car and out into traffic. Then, she found a few magical creatures to join her on this journey. It was an adventure to track her mom down, and she learned that her mom left her in order to work to make a living for their family. It wasn’t so that she could have her own party, which is what the girl in the story thought. The little girl’s mom asked her to be brave for her and trust that she would return to her as soon as she was able to. The little girl I babysat never did cry after that story.
I can’t wait to see the impact the Princess Lizzie Books Series will have in the literacy lives of children all over the world. It really does mean so much to not only put in all of this work, but to know that I have all of your support. I’m so grateful and I seriously can not wait!
